On Worship

The following is from Tim Keller’s essay in Worship by the Book:

“If the great preaching and music simply draw a crowd of people who have nothing to do with each other the rest of the week, we have created spectacle, not a worshiping community.”  —Tim Keller

In other words, a test of true worship is community building.  If community building doesn’t result from our worship, then something is missing, and we need to rethink our worship.  This seems to be a natural consequence of trinitarian worship as portrayed in Scripture.
