Reza Aslan “Zealot – The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth”

The gist of Dr. Aslan’s project (which has been generating not a few discussions since its publication) in his own words, is this:

The more I probed the Bible to arm myself against the doubts of unbelievers, the more distance I discovered between the Jesus of the Gospels and the Jesus of history – between Jesus the Christ and Jesus of Nazareth…

“Because I am convinced that one can be a devoted follower of Jesus without being a Christian, just as I know that one can be a Christian without being a follower of Jesus.” more here

This revisionistic approach is nothing new.  We’ve read this script before.  We’ve seen this play before.  And we all know how they end.

It’s simply a repackaging.
